The job description of “a great amplifier”? – Magnificata Pre-Power review
REDGUM’s Magnificata Pre-Power is the successful applicant in this first edition of Soundstage!Australia.com as reviewed by Edgar Kramer.
And no less than with “flying… colours”!
In a most thorough fleshing out of what it takes to be a great amplifier, Edgar Kramer has come to the conclusion that REDGUM’s flagship Monoblock Amplifier System does indeed “meet this stringent mandate”. Modest though we try to be, with our hallmark passive preamplifier and two newly beefed-up Monoblock amplifiers, we had a strong sense that they were already attuned to our way of thinking about design.
It is an honour to be included in the first publication of Soundstage!Australia.com! And a pleasure to renew the connection as we have history with the Soundstage! Network.
As it happened, in 2000, when our then-leading Integrated model, the RGi120, was submitted for our very first review with Soundstage!, it was returned with a Reviewers’ Choice Annual Award as Best Debut Product 2000!
A thrilling result for our “concept” amplifier, around which all subsequent REDGUM MOSFET amplifiers have been designed, with passive pre ‘n all.
Subsequent Soundstage!reviews covered our bigger guns, for both source (RGCD5) (in 2001) and
RGM175 Monoblock amplification (in 2002).
Little did we know back then how our biggest Monoblock system would grow up to become the Magnificata!
