What is the REDGUM RGCD5 Upgrade Kit?

Recently, the digital filter manufacturer that we use for the RGCD5 player released an even better "top line" IC. We decided to make this new chip the standard IC used in our RGCD5 players. To make this change within the model clear to our customers, past and present, we have called this upgraded model the RGCD5ENR. We use the letters ENR on all our special "Signature" amplifiers, and as this is now an even more special CD player....

For owners of RGCD5 players, we offer an Upgrade kit so that the new digital filter can be simply installed into their current (original model) player. In other words, this is a way of allowing our earlier customers to upgrade their product with the improved technology.

With regard to our RGCD2 model, our original design remains unaltered as the model available. We still use Burr Brown's top quality ICs, but we cannot afford to use IC's of the level of quality found in the CD5 if we wish to keep the price reasonable for the CD2.

To summarize then:

The Digital Filter upgrade kit is available for our earlier RGCD5 player, and can be fitted to these older units. This kit would only be requested by current owners of a RGCD5 wishing to have the very latest in Digital Filter chips, which were not available when the CD5 was first released. As of now, all CD5's sold have the newer chip as their standard - for clarity of labelling, that model player is the RGCD5ENR.

And so:

RGCD2 - original model, available as before (no upgrade necessary, or available!)
RGCD5 - original model, no longer available
RGCD5ENR - upgraded model using newer/better NPC Digital Filter IC
RGCD5 Upgrade kit - to insert into circuit of owner's (original model) RGCD5. (The kit can be easily installed without soldering by simply following the detailed instructions).
